When did Cyber ​​Monday first start?

Cyber ​​Monday first became a thing back in 2005, as a way for e-commerce to get in on some of the Black Friday action.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the term was first coined by the National Retail Federation after the group noticed that the Monday after Thanksgiving online shopping saw an increase in customers using their workplace’s, at the time, faster internet connections to get a start on their holiday shopping .

As internet e-commerce became more prevalent, so did the rise of sales at online stores the Monday after Thanksgiving to the point where brick-and-mortar stores began to get in on the idea to help boost sales even more.
