Racing is crowned champion of the Copa Sudamericana for the first time after defeating Cruzeiro 3-1

(CNN Spanish) – Racing won its first Copa Sudamericana title this Saturday after defeating Cruzeiro with a score of 3-1.

The final was played at the General Pablo Rojas stadium, La Nueva Olla, in Asunción, where Gastón Martirena opened the scoring in the 15th minute to give the Argentine club the advantage. Adrián Martínez scored Racing’s second goal in the 20th minute, while Kaio Jorge scored the only goal for the Brazilian club in the 52nd minute. In the fifth minute of additional time, Roger Martínez sealed Racing’s championship with his team’s third goal.

The Argentine club will also receive a prize of US$6 million, while the runner-up will take US$2 million.
