The Privacy Compliance Officer will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s data privacy compliance program. This role involves developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant privacy laws. The Privacy Compliance Officer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that privacy is embedded in the company’s operations, products, and services.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and Implement Privacy Policies: Create, maintain, and enforce privacy policies and procedures that comply with applicable laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other global privacy standards.
  • Monitor Compliance: Regularly audit and monitor company practices to ensure compliance with privacy regulations. Identify and address any compliance gaps or risks.
  • Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs): Conduct and oversee DPIAs for new products, services, or initiatives that involve processing personal data.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver privacy training programs for employees to ensure awareness and understanding of data protection responsibilities and practices.
  • Incident Management: Manage and respond to data privacy incidents, including data breaches. Coordinate with relevant teams to investigate, remediate, and report incidents in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Liaison with Regulatory Bodies: Act as the point of contact for data protection authorities and manage communications with regulatory bodies regarding privacy matters.
  • Contract and Vendor Management: Review and negotiate data protection clauses in contracts with clients, vendors, and partners to ensure compliance with privacy laws.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate privacy risks associated with company operations, product development, and data processing activities.
  • Collaboration with Legal and Product Teams: Work closely with the legal and product teams to ensure that privacy by design and by default principles are integrated into the development of new products and services.
  • Stay Current on Privacy Laws: Continuously monitor changes in privacy laws and regulations and update company practices as necessary to maintain compliance.

Who You Are

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification (eg, CIPP, CIPM) is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in privacy compliance, preferably within the technology or SaaS industry. Experience in ad tech is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of global privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and others.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and mitigate risks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Certifications: CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or other relevant privacy certifications preferred.
