Pittsburgh Light Up Night: Lights, The Fray, Fireworks, Ice + More!

Let the Christmas season begin! Pittsburgh’s annual Light Up Night is Saturday, November 23rd. Get in the spirit with the tree lighting, live music with The Fray, ice carvings, Zambelli fireworks, and more!

Highmark Christmas Tree Lighting! (Stanwix St. and Penn Ave.)

You won’t want to miss the most important part of the night—the annual lighting of the Highmark Christmas Tree! The excitement happens at 7pm, complete with Zambelli fireworks. It’s time to celebrate the season!

The Fray takes the Xfinity Riverside Stage! (Ft. Duquesne Blvd. & 6th St.)

Pop-rock band The Fray will headline this year. They are known for their hits, “How to Save a Life,” “Over My Head,” and “You Found Me.” Those songs were everywhere back in the mid-2000s! They released their new EP, “The Fray is Back,” this past September. Should be a fun show!

“5 at 5” Bridge Party (6th Street Bridge)

Have some $5 drinks at 5pm! Yes, that’s right. Trace Brewing and Lawrenceville Distilling will get the festivities started on the 6th Street Bridge from 4pm – 6pm. There will also be artisan food vendors. “Score vintage finds and stellar deals on Light Up Night Apparel, while DJ Arie Cole spins.” You’ll have all the “beers, bites, and beats for just five bucks!”

Fifth Avenue Freeze! (Fifth Avenue Place)

Looking for some unique ice carvings? Award winning ice carver Rich Bubin of Ice Creations will have some awesome displays. Very cool! Take a pic with ice sculptures in the shape of a “snowman, Christmas tree, Snoopy, snowflake, (and) Rudolph!” If you want to warm up, go inside for airbrush artists, face painters, balloon artists, and caricaturists.

Ice Skating Rink, Christmas Tree, + Shopping Village (PPG Place, Market Square)

The ice rink and Christmas tree at PPG Place always brings the most festive energy. It’s the ideal spot for a good holiday picture. The shopping village will be officially open too. Expect big crowds, but it’s all in the spirit of the season!
