Milwaukee Bus Driver Praised for Helping Unresponsive Cyclist

A Milwaukee bus driver has been lauded after coming to the aid of a fallen bicyclist she encountered while driving her route in April.

The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) said driver Yolanda H spotted a “person lying in the middle of the road, unresponsive, with their bicycle.”

“Oh my goodness, what’s happened to her?” Yolanda is heard saying in footage of the incident released by the MCTS.

In the video, Yolanda parks the bus and runs out of the vehicle to check on the bicyclist. She then rushes back to call for medical assistance after finding the cyclist unconscious.

While waiting for help to arrive, Yolanda “repositioned her bus to shield the cyclist from traffic,” the MCTS said.

Minutes later, firefighters arrived to help the injured cyclist.

MCTS thanked Yolanda for her “kindness, hard work, and dedication to MCTS excellence.”

The name of the cyclist was not released by the MCTS, nor were any details about their past or present medical condition. Credit: Milwaukee County Transit System via Storyful
