Men’s Cross Country Set to Open 2024 Campaign at Stony Brook Season Opener

STONY BROOK, NY – The hunt for a third straight CAA championship begins this Saturday for the Stony Brook men’s cross country team as they open the 2024 season by hosting the Stony Brook Season Opener.

The Seawolves will be joined by Fordham, LIU, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, and Wagner.

  • 11th place finish at CAA Cross Country Championship

“The meet this weekend is about getting the season started; it is an opportunity for me to see where the squad is fitness wise and also get a look at how the new people react in a competitive environment,” head coach Andy Ronan said.

“The men will have a different look up front this year, as we graduated our top three guys from last year, but we still enter the season with the same goal of being ready for the championships at the beginning of November,” Ronan added. “Our junior class will have to step up, but I feel that they can and will be ready to take their performances to the next level by the end of the season.”

The Seawolves have taken first as a team in the season opener in the past four seasons.
