Josh Hartnett says the serial killer in ‘Trap’ was inspired by people in the film industry

Josh Hartnett He drew inspiration from his real life for his recent serial killer role… saying he based his psychopath on others he met… in the film industry!

The actor sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly Friday… and talks about immersing himself in the mind of a serial killer as he did for his new film “Trap” directed by Mr. Night Shyamalan.

Hartnett explains that there are many people in the highest positions – CEOs, politicians and even people in show business – who will say or do anything to get what they want… regardless of the people they hurt in the process.

JH says that a lack of empathy is a telltale sign of a psychopath… and he’s met plenty of people like that, which implies he’s interacted with some very disturbed people in the film industry.

This is in line with other comments Josh has made recently… admitting that he left the film industry in part because he was afraid fame would crush him.

Remember… Hartnett talked about being harassed during a recent interview – and those experiences made him worry that H’wood would end his life, so he left before that happened.

By the way… Hartnett put a lot of effort into his performance in “Trap,” but critics aren’t too impressed with the final product. The film has a 47% on Rotten Tomatoes, though many blame the script and direction rather than Josh’s performance.
