Jetstar passenger stunned by cabin crew’s response to simple request: ‘So unfair’

A Jetstar passenger was left feeling frustrated and unwell when a simple request to cabin crew was denied — leaving fellow Aussies branding the situation ‘ridiculous’ and ‘infuriating’.

Perth-based model Dasha was on her way back to Australia from Bali when, feeling sick from Bali belly, she bought a bottle of water for the flight at Denpasar International Airport after passing through security. But just before boarding, the bottle of water was confiscated at a second security checkpoint.

Before take-off, Dasha asked the Jetstar cabin crew if they would provide her with some water since she was suffering from the common illness that affected tourists and felt “super sick.” Shockingly, she claims she was denied her simple request not once, but twice.

“I bought a bottle of water at the departure gate, (after) already went through security,” she told Yahoo News Australia. “When I went to board it was another security (checkpoint that) did another bag check and took my water even though I said I was sick and needed it.”

Yahoo understands that Denpasar Airport requires passengers to dispose of any liquids before boarding an aircraft and that Jetstar customers are entitled to cups of water at no cost onboard. But Dasha claims this was n’t her experience.

“On the plane, I was then also refused free water by staff when I asked,” she said. Dasha claims she asked for water once before take-off, and once after take-off, but says she wasn’t provided any water until service when cabin crew gave out pre-paid meals.

“I luggage did have a free meal because I paid for 30kg and that came with a beverage so I was lucky I had some water then. But meal service takes some time and I had to wait a while,” she said, adding that she felt the situation was “so unfair.”

“I think it’s not fair you can’t take a bottle on the plane when you already went past security,” she said. “Then it’s unfair you don’t get water when you need it.”

Responding to a video shared by the model, some Aussies echoed the point that Jetstar crew do give free water in a cup, others say the same thing has happened to them too.

“Yes it just happened to me too and it’s infuriating,” one Aussie said.

“I have no idea why they do this! It’s ridiculous,” said another.

Another pointed out that in Bali, this happens “no matter who you fly with.”
