Brig. Gen. Nadav Lotan has been appointed as the next commander of the IDF Ground Forces, according to a Times of Israel report, citing the military.

The decision, made by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi and approved by Defense Minister Israel Katz, promotes Lotan to the rank of major general.

Lotan, who previously led the 162nd Division and the Operations Directorate’s military doctrine, assessment, and training department, will take over from Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai, who resigned in September for personal reasons.

Apart from Lotan’s appointment, Halevi also approved several other senior military changes, including the promotion of 11 brigadier generals, four new colonels, and the reassignment of six brigadier generals and 19 colonels to new positions.

Notably, a reservist officer will return to lead the Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 8200.
