Huskers upset 14th-ranked Creighton

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Behind a masterful defensive performance, Nebraska upset 14th-ranked Creighton, 74-63, in Omaha on Friday night. The Huskers held CU All-American Ryan Kalkbrenner to 4 points, while limiting the 7-foot-1 center to just one field goal attempt.

The Bluejays were never in sync due to Nebraska’s relentless pressure. The Huskers forced 17 turnovers with seven different players recording at least one steal. The victory marks Nebraska’s second consecutive road win over its in-state rival. “Go Big Red” chants filled the CHI Health Center in Omaha as the time expired.

Juwan Gary and Brice Williams paced Nebraska offensively, combining for 32 points. Three other players scored in double figures including Connor Essegian (15), Berke Buyuktuncel (12), and Rollie Worster (11).

Nebraska improves its record to 4-1, while the Bluejays suffer their first loss of the season.

The Huskers return to action on Wednesday against South Dakota.
