What happened

The crash involved a stationary TxDOT truck, a gray Mazda 3, and a white car.

Police said the Mazda 3 crashed into the white vehicle, causing that vehicle to crash into the stationary TxDOT truck, which was left engulfed in flames from the impact of the crash.

Police said the deputy constable, between 46 and 48 years old, and her daughter, between 8 and 10 years old, were killed inside the white car. The constable deputy’s identity has not been released at this time.

Other injuries

The Mazda 3 had two occupants—a driver and a passenger. Police said the passenger of the Mazda 3 was transported to the hospital for evaluation, while the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The TxDOT worker was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out.

Houston police were working the scene but Pct. 5 deputies started to show up to the crash scene.
