The Team

This teams mission is to enable business growth through acquisitions and external partnerships while preserving and enhancing Kraken’s industry leading security, technology programs, and culture.

This team focuses on integrating acquisitions and external partnerships into Kraken’s security and IT business as usual. From initial diligence of an acquisition target through post-close integration into Kraken, this team acts as a single point of contact for the security team to make M&A efforts successful. The team solves problems focused within security tooling, security workflows, technology implementation, infrastructure engineering, and crypto custody operations.

Join a growing team who works on some of the most exciting components of Kraken. The role focuses on both interesting technology components and the excitement of the acquisition deal negotiations alongside one of the best corporate development teams in the financial services industry.

Work with the wide variety of teams within Kraken’s best-in-class security program, including red team, kraken security labs, application security, identity and access management, corporate security, blue team, cloud security, and risk management, as well as fraud , customer engagement and account management, infrastructure engineering, data operations, and human resources.

Kraken and the crypto industry are required to engage in inorganic growth through acquisitions and partnerships, which can be challenging to fit into security and IT’s business as usual. A scrappy team is required to solve these challenges. This team has high-level organizational buy-in and the opportunity to develop a world-class program while working on a wide variety of these highly impactful projects.

The Opportunity

Security Diligence:

  • Conduct due diligence on security and IT components of potential acquisitions, partnerships, and vendor engagements

  • Evaluate vendor footprint, cybersecurity posture, IT infrastructure, and technology stack of target companies

Risk Assessment:

  • Identify and assess security risks and IT challenges associated with potential third party engagements

  • Form a holistic understanding of their attack surface and what risks & mitigation strategies Kraken should consider with the engagement

Technical Project Management:

  • Manage security and IT projects, advocate for technical action, and communicate across multiple teams

  • Collaborate with Security & IT, Engineering, Corporate Development, and other stakeholders to provide tailored security & technology requirements and align individual M&A transactions or vendor engagements with Kraken’s security standards

Security Integration Planning & Execution:

  • Drive strategies for the integration of IT systems and security protocols for vendor engagements and acquisitions

  • Ensure seamless integration by coordinating cross-functional efforts while maintaining security standards

Post-Merger Integration Support & Reporting:

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance for the integration of IT and security systems following an acquisition or partnership

  • Prepare and present reports on IT and security findings and integration progress to senior management and relevant stakeholders

Vendor Management:

  • Perform annual assessments of Kraken’s utilization of critical vendors, regularly reviewing SOC attestations and validating critical vendors are performing to the CIA triad

  • Manage identified risks through risk mitigation, remediation or acceptance workflows

Skills You Should HODL

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, Data Management, or a related field

  • Proven experience in IT, cybersecurity, and involvement in M&A activities

  • Demonstrated ability to drive development of secure architecture and facilitate business goals

  • Strong understanding of IT systems, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity principles

  • Familiarity with legal and regulatory standards in IT and cybersecurity

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for effective stakeholder engagement

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving situations

  • A team-focused mentality with the proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders that have unique requirements and priorities
