$1,900 Social Security Payment: These people will receive it on November 20

,900 Social Security Payment: These people will receive it on November 20

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is set to issue a new payment. Each month, the SSA processes millions of payments to beneficiaries of its programs, primarily to retired workers and recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).

The SSA follows a payment calendar based on the beneficiaries’ birth dates to ensure accurate and organized distribution. Those born between the 1st and 10th of the month receive their payments on the second Wednesday. Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th receive payments on the third Wednesday, while those born between the 21st and 31st receive payments on the last Wednesday of the month.

It’s important to note that workers who retired before May 1997 and SSI beneficiaries do not adhere to this payment schedule. They receive their checks or deposits during the first days of the month, regardless of their birth date. The only exception being when the first of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday.

How much are Social Security payments?

The amount of payments by individual varies, as it is determined by considering several factors, including the years of contributions and the age at which the beneficiary requested their payments. However, the SSA provides estimates that serve as a reference for people looking to plan for their future and request early retirement. The average monthly payment for a retired individual in 2024 is $1,907. However, based on the annual data from the SSA on the breakdown of benefit size for beneficiaries, only around 4.8 percent of them receive a check this size. More than half, 55 percent, will receive a check under $1,900.

Who will receive their Social Security check on Wednesday, 20 November?

The beneficiaries who receive a payment on Wednesday, November 20, are those whose date of birth is between the 11th and 20th of the month. With this, only one payment corresponding to the month of November would remain pending, in addition to the first payment of December for SSI beneficiaries:

  • Wednesday, 27: Beneficiaries with birth dates between the 21st and the 31st
  • Friday, 29: Beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income (payment corresponding to December)

This is how payments will increase in 2025

Year after year, the Administration makes adjustments to recipients’ payments to match the amounts with current inflationthereby avoiding purchasing losses when the inflation rate is high. This equalization is known as Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).

In 2024, the COLA increase was 3.2%, while in 2025 it will be 2.5%. To find out how much money you will receive with the COLA increase, add 2.5% to your current amount. The increase will be reflected automatically starting with the first payment in 2025. For more information, visit the official SSA website.
