Bribery Commission Cracks Down on Unreturned Government Assets

COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has informed to take action to reclaim state properties that are still being used by officials who have left office.

The Commission informed this through a letter addressed to Ministry Secretaries, Provincial Chief Secretaries, Local Government Heads, Department Heads and District Secretaries.

The decision has been taken in the wake of increasing complaints of illegal use of government property given to officials during their tenure.

Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has informed the heads of government institutions to investigate such properties and take necessary measures to reclaim the properties immediately.

It emphasizes that the law will be strictly enforced against those who misuse public property.
