Xavier Restrepo sets Miami football receiving records

Xavier Restrepo climbed to the top of Miami football’s vaunted receiving record list, and he did it with style.

The fifth-year senior from Coconut Creek, Florida, entered the game vs. Duke needing eight catches to reach the school record of 182 receiving yards, set by Mike Harley from 2017-21, and needing 120 yards to reach the school record of 2,547 receiving yards, set by Santana Moss from 1997-2000.

He broke both records with a 66-yard touchdown from Cam Ward in the fourth quarter.

The top receiver for Heisman hopeful Cam Ward, Restrepo came into the game with 43 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns. He was tied for 30th in the nation in receptions and was 15th in yardage.

At 5-foot-10, Restrepo doesn’t fit the archetype for dominant pass-catcher. But the product of Deerfield Beach High School has been a shining light on Miami’s offense, earning All-ACC first-team honors in 2023 with 85 catches for 1,092 yards (both second in the conference behind Virginia’s Malik Washington) and six touchdowns.
