Tennessee DL gets away with apparent cheap shot on Brock Vandagriff

Tennessee and Kentucky have been a low-scoring, physical kind of game where scoring has been at a premium with some big time shots. There have been a lot of legal hits that would have football fans from the 1980s enjoying the game, but there was also one that would fall into the cheap shot category.

It happened on the Tennessee sidelines, as defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott delivered an apparent cheap shot on Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff as he scampered to the sidelines.

However, there was no flag on the play from the officiating crew, much to the disbelief of the broadcast analysts. Here’s a replay of the incident:

Not only did he take a cheap shot, but Vandagriff threw an interception later in the drive.

Kentucky entered this game with a lot of injured players and it felt like a game the Volunteers could get things going on the offensive side of the ball, but that hasn’t been the case so far. Kentucky took a 10-7 lead into the halftime break.

For the Volunteers, they are just 2 games away from heading to Athens to take on No. 2 Georgia.
