Taylor Swift fan’s tickets hacked away weeks before concert

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – A Taylor Swift fan is hoping Ticketmaster can help her recover $500 worth of tickets that were swiped from her account.

“I’m not going to lie, I was in a bit of a panic,” Amanda Kopchak said, recalling the moment she found out the tickets were gone.

Kopchak explained she bought the two tickets for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Indianapolis last year, snagging two tickets for her to go with her friend—also named Taylor.

“He actually took me to the Reputations tour a few years ago,” she said, “so I felt like this was my way to pay him back, we were super excited.”

Kopchak was a victim of hackers, one of hundreds of fans nationwide who had their tickets taken by a stranger.

Sue McConnell with the Better Business Bureau of Greater Cleveland said Ticketmaster was previously hacked. The information of over 500 million people stolen, and she shared the steps anyone affected by the breach should take.

“I would try everything. I would contact Ticketmaster immediately,” she said. “I would change my password and username, if you’ve saved your credit card info to your account, it’s best to release that.”

Kopchak reached out to Ticketmaster’s customer service, hoping for assistance or the chance to receive a refund, but has made no progress so far. 19 News also tried to reach Ticketmaster for a statement, but no one was available.

For now, Kopchak simply hopes to still have a chance to enjoy Taylor Swift on stage with her fellow Swiftie.

“I do know he’ll understand,” she said. “If worst comes to worst—I’m not able to—I think he’s just more upset that this happened.”
