Suspect wanted after shooting kills 1, injuries 2 inside Vancouver Mall

VANCOUVER Wash. (KPTV) – Police are searching for a suspect or suspects after one person was shot and killed, and two others injured at the Vancouver Mall on Thursday evening, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

At about 7:30 pm, police responded to reports of a shooting at the mall food court. They found one person dead and two others injured, who were rushed to the hospital.

Witnesses told police that a suspect shot one person, and “fired other rounds that struck two other individuals,” police said.

Employees and shoppers sheltered in place in the mall, and police said no other injuries were reported as of this time.

Police said there was no active threat, but the suspect or suspects are currently unknown. Officers said they are searching mall security footage to identify the suspect or suspects, and officers are still clearing all the rooms of the mall.

Police also said they do not yet know the motivation for the shooting, and if it was random or if specific people were targeted.

Anyone separated from their group during the incident should go to the area outside the Hobby Lobby, which police said has been set up as the reunification area.
