Seahawks sign former Vikings starting quarterback Jaren Hall to practice squad

At last, the Seattle Seahawks have their third quarterback.

With the team set to return to practice on Monday, the Seahawks added former Minnesota Vikings starter Jaren Hall to the practice squad. Wide receiver Easop Winston Jr, one of Seattle’s preseason standouts, was released to make room for Hall, a fifth-round pick out of BYU.

The Seahawks entered this year’s preseason with PJ Walker as the third quarterback, but an underwhelming camp and in-game performance resulted in him neither making the 53-man roster nor practice squad. In comes Jaren Hall, who has prior starting experience as a rookie with the Vikings. When Kirk Cousins was lost for the season due to injury, Hall got the call-up but didn’t even get out of the opening quarter against the Atlanta Falcons before suffering a concussion.

With fading playoff hopes on the line, Hall was chosen over Nick Mullens as the Week 17 starter against the Green Bay Packers. It went very poorly, with Hall completing just half of his 10 passes for 78 yards and turning it over twice before he was hooked at halftime. Hall did face the Seahawks last preseason, going 6-of-14 for 37 yards.

Before being let go by the Vikings, the 26-year-old Hall had a much better preseason than his rookie campaign, completing 28 of 46 passes for 339 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Hall will wear No. 15, the same number previously worn by Walker.
