Scarlett Johansson’s husband sent home from Olympics as shock replacement announced

Scarlett Johansson’s husband, Colin Jost, has been suddenly away as the US surfing correspondent for the Olympic Games, with Luke Bradnam, an Australian weather presenter, taking his place.

While Colin Jost of Saturday Night Live fame was all set for a starring role in NBC’s Olympic surfing broadcast from Tahiti, his assignment was cut short as calm seas prompted a break in the action, forcing him to return stateside after just two days.

Despite being a fixture on American television through SNL and various other screen appearances, 42 year old Jost has made way for an unexpected successor. Stepping up to the plate is Luke Bradnam, a less internationally recognized face more familiar to viewers of Australia’s Channel Nine.

Thrown into the hot seat, Bradnam will step into Jost’s shoes to deliver surf reports to millions, albeit with a significantly smaller production team, composed solely of his dedicated cameraman, Jack Marriott. Embodying a quintessentially laid-back Aussie attitude, Bradnam didn’t hesitate when called upon, robustly stating, “I don’t muck around mate.”

Joining Marriott, the duo will now present the remainder of the Olympic surfing for the renowned network, with the finals set to take place in a stunning location and medals anticipated to be awarded on Sunday. Speaking from Teahupo’o, Bradnam expressed his surprise to the Sydney Morning Herald at being asked to step in for Jost and lead the American broadcast, reports the Mirror.

The well-liked weatherman was clearly thrilled with the opportunity, but had some concerns about his recognition among US viewers and also questioned whether his accent would be understood by American fans.

“I got a phone call as the surfing came back on line, it was literally just, ‘Colin’s not able to work it, could you please fill in for us? ‘ ‘What the f—? Sure,’ he said. “Now I’m doing these crosses, they’ve got no idea who I am. I’ve done three crosses already today and I’ve covered the Americans today.”

He added: “I am taking that side of the job seriously, of course. And then there’s a part of me going, ‘Jesus, can these Americans even understand me? ‘” While Jost, who has been married to Hollywood star Johansson since 2020, brought his comedic flair to his reports, even hopping on a surfboard himself, modest Bradnam had one of the most significant days in competitive surfing history, when he covered Australian stars Jack Robinson and Ethan Ewing on Wednesday.

The Aussie journalist also shared that he initially had doubts about Jost, feeling the star already had plenty going for him, but his opinion changed after spending time with the American. “I didn’t want to like the guy,” Bradnam admitted.

“He’s way too good-looking, he’s funny, and he’s married to Scarlett Johansson. He’s got enough in life. But I spent two days on the boats with him, I just couldn’t help it, he was just a great bloke. “

He further mentioned that he wasn’t sure where Jost had disappeared to, but he was now looking forward to mingling with the top brass at NBC, saying: “No idea where he’s gone, all I know is I’m now doing his crosses …If I don’t get an invite to the NBC Christmas party after this, it won’t be pretty.”

The reason behind Jost being replaced as NBC’s surfing corresponding to the Olympics remains a mystery. This development occurred shortly after the announcement that Jost will host a new game show in the US.
