Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin arrested after SWAT standoff

Mud puddle Wes Scantlin He was arrested after a traffic stop turned into a tense standoff… and cops eventually resorted to using pepper spray to get him out of his car… according to authorities.

The Burbank Police Department tells TMZ that Wesley was arrested on Wednesday … after they stopped his black Hummer H2 in Burbank for a traffic violation and asked for his ID. Officers say they discovered Scantlin had an active arrest warrant from a previous case for alleged possession of a gun at an airport.

We’re told that when officers asked Wesley to get out of the car, he refused… and after several attempts, a crisis negotiator came to negotiate, but cops say he still wouldn’t budge.

Our sources tell us they then deployed pepper spray, but even that didn’t work, forcing SWAT to arrive around 4:00 a.m. and break the car window to fire non-lethal pepper balls to finally get him to surrender and get out of the car.

We’re told he was taken to the hospital to have the pepper balls cleaned out of his eyes, but he was ultimately fine.
