Overturned semi-truck causes major backup on I-10 West, East at Chelsea

UPDATE: All westbound lanes of traffic at Interstate 10 and Chelsea have now reopened after a semi overturned earlier Tuesday morning, Aug. 27, TxDOT said.

A single left lane going eastbound is in the process of reopening, TxDOT said.

Westbound backup is to Hawkins. Eastbound backup is to Copia. Clearing time remains until further notice.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An overturned semi-truck is blocking I-10 West and a part of I-10 East at Chelsea, causing major backup in the area.

TxDOT says all lanes are currently closed westbound with traffic detouring at Exit 23B. Backup is to Trowbridge. I-10 East at Chelsea has been reduced to a single right lane of travel. Backup is to the US 54 Interchange.

No further information has been released. This story will be updated once we learn more.
