NFL Week 9: Texans-Jets TNF odds, prediction, discussion

The Kansas City Chiefs will close out Week 9 of the NFL season by hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on “Monday Night Football.”

But Week 9 kicks off with the (6-2) Houston Texans on the road against the (2-6) New York Jets on “Thursday Night Football.” Kickoff is set for 7:15 pm (Arrowhead Daylight Time) on Amazon Prime, KRIV (FOX/26-Houston) and WNYW (FOX/5-New York).

According to FanDuel Sportsbookthe Jets are favored by 2.5 points.

The Texans will arrive at MetLife Stadium after winning four of their last five frames — most recently a 24-22 road loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 7, followed by a 23-20 home win against the Indianapolis Colts. Meanwhile, the Jets are coming off five straight losses — the last two on the road. Two weeks ago, they suffered a 37-15 defeat at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Then on Sunday, New York couldn’t close out a win. After taking a 22-17 lead with just under three minutes remaining, the Jets surrendered a 12-play, 70-yard touchdown drive that secured the New England Patriots a 25-22 victory.

I can’t go along with the oddsmakers on this one. I think the Texans will win this one 24-10.
