Lauren Sanchez Dazzles in Sheer Oscar de la Renta at Kering Dinner

Lauren Sánchez married floral inspiration with one of the 2024 red carpet’s hottest trends at the Kering Foundation Caring for Women Dinner on Monday as part of New York Fashion Week on Monday, wearing the ideal transitional piece as summer ends and autumn nears.

For the occasion, the “Fly Who Flew to Space” children’s book author wore an Oscar de la Renta off-the-shoulder dress. The navy gown featured see-through and sheer fabric, along with a bevy of intricate guipure lace detailing with a delicate velvet peony design. The shape of the dress created a fit-and-flare silhouette on Sánchez, and included a flowing train.

Sánchez completed the look with Jimmy Choo heels. She accessorized her de ella ensemble with glittering earrings and her 20 to 30 carat cushion-cut engagement ring from Amazon executive chairman Jeff Bezos.

Sánchez’s hair was styled in an updo with wisps of hair to frame her face by Olivia Halpin. Her makeup was done by artist Laura Ann Mele. Sánchez’s entire ensemble was curated by Emmy Award-winning stylist Kelly Johnson.

Oscar de la Renta is just one designer Sánchez often looks to for sartorial inspiration for various high-profile events. For the 2024 Met Gala in May, Sánchez wore a piece inspired by Oscar de la Renta’s fall 2024 collection. The collection paid sartorial homage to historical Art Nouveau, which featured sinuous curves and botanical inspiration.

Pieces from the fall 2024 collection of Oscar de la Renta, including Sánchez’s Met Gala look, featured gowns with stained-glass detailing, which were created using individually dyed acrylic paillettes. Much like her Met Gala 2024 look, Sánchez’s Oscar de la Renta dress for the Kering Caring for Women Dinner included a bevy of botanical inspiration.
