Latest on Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard, Will Levis, L’Jarius Sneed

The list of Tennessee Titans not spotted at Friday’s practice, the final session before Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, is disconcertingly long.

The Titans (1-6) host the Patriots (2-6) at Nissan Stadium on Sunday (noon, FOX). Ten Titans were absent from Friday’s session, including key starters such as running backs Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears, receivers Tyler Boyd and Calvin Ridley, defensive backs L’Jarius Sneed and Amani Hooker, defensive backle T’Vondre Sweat and guard Dillon Radunz.

Speaking with media Friday, Titans coach Brian Callahan only ruled Sneed and lineman Andrew Rupcich out for Sunday and said the rest of the players on the practice report are expected to be listed as questionable. When the practice report was released Friday afternoon, the Titans downgraded Spears to out as well.

Boyd, Hooker, Radunz, Pollard, Sweat, cornerback Tre Avery and quarterback Will Levis have all been listed as questionable. Ridley has no injury designation and was listed as absent from Friday’s session for rest-related reasons.

Callahan said a long list of decisions will have to be made by Saturday about which players will be elevated from the practice squad or signed to the active roster to deal with all the injuries on the squad.

“We’ll take up until gameday to make any determination on a few of them,” Callahan said. “Most are hopeful. But we’ll see how it ends up by the time we get to Sunday.”

Will Levis injury update: Will Tennessee Titans QB return vs Patriots?

Quarterback Will Levis will be listed as questionable as he continues to recover from an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder. Levis was a limited practice participant throughout this week but he and his coaches have both said the focus has been on pushing his arm harder than in the weeks leading up to the Indianapolis and Buffalo games to get a fuller perspective on how ready he is to play .

If Levis is unable to go, veteran Mason Rudolph will be called on to make his third consecutive start. The Titans are 0-2 in Rudolph’s two starts with a pair of blowout losses against Buffalo and Detroit. Rudolph has averaged more yards per attempt and per game than Levis has this season but Levis has the higher touchdown percentage, passer rating and completion percentage.

“It was a good week,” Callahan said about Levis. “He felt a lot better this week than he did last week, which is positive. You can see the strength and stamina starting to come back a little bit. We’ll see by the time we get to gameday, but he’s better than he It was last week which is all we were hoping to see.”

Journeyman Trevor Siemian is the Titans’ No. 3 quarterback option and remains on the practice squad. Siemian has already been elevated from the practice squad twice this year, meaning he can only be elevated one more time this season.
