Last day to swim this summer in Sioux Falls pools is around the corner: What to know

Sioux Falls has announced the closing dates for city pools as the summer season draws to close.

Frank Olson Pool, McKennan Wading Pool and the Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center will all close on Aug. 11, with the Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center closing Aug. 25.

Kuehn Pool, the Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center, Pioneer Spray Park and the Hayward Park Splash Pad will then close Sept. 1.

Starting Aug. 12, Kuehn Pool, Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center and Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center will also see reduced hours, opening only from 1 to 8 pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Lap swimming and water walking events will continue at Drake Springs on weekdays from 11 am to 12:50 pm through Aug. 16.

And finally, dog owners can bring their pets for the city’s annual “Swimming Gone to the Dogs” events from 5:30 to 7 pm Aug. 13 at Terrace Park and from 5:30 to 7 pm Sept. 4 at Laurel Oak. Owners can bring a maximum of two dogs that must follow off-leash rules and be updated on shots.
