Keegan-Michael Key announced as guest picker for ‘College GameDay’

The celebrity guest picker for ESPN’s “College GameDay” has been announced.

ESPN announced Thursday that actor and comedian Keegan-Michael Key will serve as the guest picker for No. 3 Penn State’s (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) game against No. 4 Ohio State (6-1, 3-1) on Saturday in State College, where Week 10’s live show will be filmed.

Saturday will mark Key’s fourth appearance on “GameDay,” as he also served as the celebrity guest picker for Penn State-Ohio State in 2018 and in 2016 for the Big Ten Championship. Key also appeared on the New York City show in 2017.

Key, 53, earned his master’s degree from Penn State before starting his acting and comedy career. Key rose to prominence with his role on Mad TV alongside Jordan Peele, who started sketch comedy show “Key and Peele” on Comedy Central in 2012. He also starred in “Meteor Shower” on Broadway and has been a voice actor in a variety of movies.

Key has made numerous appearances at Penn State over the years, even impersonating Nittany Lions coach James Franklin at Penn State’s spring game in 2018.

Penn State-Ohio State has massive Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff implications, with both teams being ranked inside the top four of the latest US LBM Coaches Poll. The Nittany Lions haven’t beat the Buckeyes since 2016, which was Franklin’s third season at the helm.
