Kansas State weather delay: When will the Houston game resume?

Kansas State and Houston are slated to go head-to-head in Week 10, but the scheduled 3:30 pm ET start-time won’t be happening.

Due to lightning in the area, fans have been asked to clear the stands inside TDECU Stadium. The game has been delayed, but could be starting soon. KSO’s Derek Young tweeted players are able to warm up around 3:20 pm CT. Houston now has announced the national anthem will begin at 3:21 pm CT and a coin toss at 3:31 pm CT.

Entering the game, Kansas State is a 12.5-point favorite against Houston, according to FanDuel. The over/under for the game is set at 45.5 points. It remains to be seen if the weather evens the playing field a bit for the Cougars.

Last season, the two programs met for the first time, with Kansas State handily defeating Houston 43-0. Evidently, oddsmakers expect the Wildcats to add another win over the Cougars to their resume on Saturday.

Last weekend, Kansas State defeated in-state rival Kansas 29-27, extending their win streak to four games. In the win, the Wildcats’ offense was spectacular, amassing 482 total yards of offense while only committing one turnover.

Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson completed 19-of-his-34 pass attempts for 253 yards and two touchdowns without throwing an interception. Running back DJ Giddens led the way in the ground game, boasting a team-high 102 rushing yards on 18 carries.

However, Kansas State isn’t the only team coming off a win. Last Saturday, the Cougars defeated Utah 17-14 with a last-second field goal. In the win, Houston’s backfield was extraordinary, notching 230 yards and 4.7 yards per carry.

J’Marion Burnette particularly excelled, recording a game-high 81 rushing yards on only eight carries. Of course, Houston’s offense wasn’t solely responsible for the win. The Cougars’ defense squeezed two turnovers out of the Utes, as well.
