Jets star exits game with possible concussion (UPDATE)

Jets receiver Davante Adams exited Thursday night’s game against the Texans after a hard hit in the third quarter. The team announced that he is being evaluated for a concussion.

UPDATE 11:05 pm: The Jets announced that Adams has cleared concussion protocol and he has returned to the game.

Adams was taken to the blue medical tent and where he was checked out by the league’s unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant. I have later left for the locker room.

Adams went down after completing a 17-yard pass from Aaron Rodgers. He was pushed out of bounds at the Texans’ 31-yard line and was immediately tended to by trainers before slowly getting up.

Adams remained on the sideline for a few minutes before entering the blue medical tent.

The Jets acquired Adams earlier this month in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, and his six catches for 54 yards before his injury Thursday night is the most he’s done with the team since. He had just seven catches across his first two games as a Jet.

Rodgers played with Adams from 2014 to 2021 on the Packers and has said that Adams is his all-time favorite target. In the final four years of the Adams-Rodgers duo in Green Bay, Adams averaged 14.5 touchdowns per season.
