Jay Kanter, agent of Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroe, dies at 97

Jay Kantera legendary film producer and former Hollywood agent to stars such as Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroeis dead.

Jay died Tuesday at his home in Beverly Hills, surrounded by his family… his son, Adam Kanterconfirmed to TMZ.

We were told Jay died peacefully of natural causes.

Kanter landed a job at a major Hollywood agency after World War II… being mentored by the late movie mogul. Lew Wasserman and working hard to climb the ladder.

Jay was just 22 when he convinced Brando to sign with him. Marlon remained a client of Jay’s throughout his career and the two remained lifelong friends.

Other stars Jay represented included Marilyn, Warren Beatty, Grace Kelly, Ronald Reagan and Gene Kelly.

Jay eventually moved into a film producing role and worked on major films such as “Alien,” “Blade Runner,” “Thelma and Louise,” as well as films in the “Star Wars” and “Police Academy” franchises.

Mel Brooks was another of Jay’s old friends… and they worked together on “Spaceballs”, “Silent Movie”, “Young Frankenstein”, “Life Stinks” and “High Anxiety”.

Jay was 97 years old.
