When it comes to Halloween, Heidi Klum is in a league of her own.

For over two decades, the supermodel has thrown her annual Halloween bash in New York City, during which she unveils her elaborately designed costume of that year.

After hours of anticipation, fans tuned into Klum’s Instagram Live at 10 pm ET on Halloween night to watch as she debuted her costume for 2024: ET, from Steven Spielberg’s 1982 film of the same name.

Klum’s costume references the scene in which Gertie (Drew Barrymore) dresses ET in women’s clothing. For the Instagram Live, Klum was joined by husband Tom Kaulitz, who dressed as ET without a disguise.

Ahead of her big reveal, Klum appeared on an Amazon livestream alongside her prosthetics designer, Mike Marino, to field questions regarding her costume and give viewers the opportunity to get a look at her elaborate getting-ready process.

During the hourlong stream, Klum hinted that she’s dressing up as something that’s alive, can sing, has “lots of wrinkles” and “works for 360.”

“That’s part of the performance,” Klum said. “These are moving sculptures. We have to make sure everything is working. It’s a living piece of art. It’s performance art.”

With celebrity attendees including Emily Ratajkowski, Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes, Klum’s Halloween parties have become a celebrity hotspot on the year’s spookiest night.

“All my friends are coming from all over the planet, literally someone from Germany, from Italy, from LA, like from all over the place,” Klum said during the livestream. “It’s always exciting for me to see everyone else’s costumes. That’s what I love. You know, I love to see the creativity we all inspire (in) each other. “That’s the fun thing about it.”

The America’s Got Talent judge, who’s been dubbed the “Queen of Halloween,” is known to go all out with her annual costumes.

For her Halloween party’s 20th anniversary in 2019, Klum dressed as an alien, wearing a prosthetic bodysuit with stapled sutures and exposed brains, muscles and tendons — which took 12 hours to complete. Her previous costumes include Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger RabbitPrincess Fiona from Shreka monkey from Planet of the Apes and a giant worm.

Klum’s repertoire of past Halloween looks speaks for itself. Rather than opt for sexy costumes, Klum said she prefers to read into the grotesque.

“I love making myself not so sexy,” the former Project Runway host said. “I love the art of this and I like to transform into something so different and unrecognizable. A lot of times with the sexy costumes you can still see the person, but I love to be super in disguise.”
