Hurricanes 8, Bruins 2 – Canes Country

The Carolina Hurricanes continued their winning ways with a dominating, 8-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at the Lenovo Center.

The Canes now have a record of 7-2, with five wins in a row.

Carolina jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the opening period, even though they had to kill off two partial 5 on 3 opportunities for the visitors.

Jack Roslovic opened the scoring 6:28 into the game, but the Bruins evened things up during one of their two-man advantages when the puck got by goalie Pytor Kochetkov after bouncing off the leg of Carolina defenseman Jaccob Slavin.

After that, it was almost all Carolina.

Svechnikov, Blake, and Necas finished up the scoring in the first, with those three goals coming within 91 seconds.

Blake’s goal came off a blast by Dmitry Orlov, who played in his 800th career NHL game.

After Boston got a goal back to start the second, the Canes got back to work.

Svechnikov and Roslovic each scored again, then Sean Walker and Jesperi Kotkaniemi notched their first goals of the season.

Next up for the Canes will be a home game against the Capitals on Sunday evening.

Game Notes:

  • Officially, Carolina went 3-5 on the powerplay. Their kills were excellent as well.
  • The Canes outshot the Bruins 37-15 for the game. Roslovic led the way with six.
