Expert Texans vs. Jets player prop picks for TNF: Big games for Hall and Schultz?

The New York Jets’ 2024 season is slipping away. The fan frustration has already reached a crescendo after this edition of the team was built to win now. Instead, it has been another year of disappointment so far, as “Gang Green” comes into Thursday’s matchup against Houston with a 2-6 record.

New York is faced with a must-win scenario as it attempts to turn things around right away, or the first year with Aaron Rodgers fully at the helm will be remembered as a colossal failure.

It won’t be easy to knock off the ascending Texans, who come in with a 6-2 record. But Houston is dealing with significant offensive injuries and the Jets are desperate, so you could get very productive performances out of their key players. My expert Texans vs. Jets player prop picks for TNF show some great value, according to the latest NFL Week 9 odds.

Best Texans vs. Jets player prop picks for TNF Week 9

Breece Hall Over 80+ Rushing Yards

Best odds: +145 at DraftKings ($100 bet wins $145)

Hall is going to be a critical performer for the Jets on Thursday night. Getting him rolling will balance the offense and help New York control the clock. The matchup is also favorable according to some statistical markers.

The Jets’ offensive line has a top 4 run blocking grade among AFC teams against Houston for NFL Week 9 on Pro Football Focus. Over the past four weeks, Houston ranks 17th in rushing yards allowed to RBs.

In two of the past three games, Hall has rushed for 80-plus yards. His production has been inconsistent this season. The Jets, however, must try to ride him as they push for a much-needed victory.

Garrett Wilson Over 5.5 Receptions

Best odds: +115 at BetMGM ($100 bet wins $115.00)

This is a strong play as even though Davante Adams is now in the receiving mix for Houston, Wilson will still command a lot of targets. The addition of Rodgers’ longtime buddy can also help Wilson in terms of Adams commanding defensive respect and attention.

The Texans do not rank in the top 10 in receptions allowed to opposing WRs. Wilson has a 70.3 WR/CB grade on PFF against the Houston corners for Week 9, which qualifies as “good.” He’s not facing a secondary shutdown, so Wilson should be able to sail past this number with some ease.

In each of his last six games, the Jets’ No. 1 WR has finished with five or more receptions. He will be busy regardless of game script. If New York is staying in the game, Wilson will be a reason why, and if he plays from behind, the reception totals will certainly get padded.

Dalton Schultz Over 4.5 Receptions

Best odds: +125 at bet365 ($100 bet wins $125)

The Texans headed into the season looking stacked at WR, and Schultz became an afterthought. Injuries, however, have robbed Houston of its top two pass-catchers, and the TE must take on a larger role in the passing game against the Jets.

Stefon Diggs is out for the season, and Nico Collins will not be available. The Jets CBs will be able to focus on limiting Tank Dell, and depth WRs Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie III have not yet proven they can step forward and produce enough for Houston.

New York will be without both of its starting safeties, Ashtyn Davis and Tony Adams. Middle linebacker CJ, Mosley will also miss the game. The middle of the field should be vulnerable enough for Schultz to get targeted frequently. Over the past four weeks, the Jets rank 21st in receptions allowed to TEs.
