Couple book sunbeds at Ibiza beach club and are staggered by bill that arrives

A couple who visited Ibiza soon found out how much costs can rack up on the Spanish island.

Federica and Giuseppe, from Italy, post about their travel experiences on their My Trip to Naples (@ilmioviaggioanapoli) online account. They recently headed to the party destination and booked out some sunbeds at a beachclub.

The pair sipped on Champagne and enjoyed the day – but were gobsmacked to learn beachclub experience ended up costing more than their flights to Ibiza.

At Cala Bassa Beach Club, situated on Sant Josep beach, they were charged a whopping €400 (£344) in total. Their luxurious day out included a charge of €40 (£34) just for sun loungers, a steep €160 (£137) spent on Champagne, and an additional €200 (£172) forked out for food.

Giuseppe said: “Something is wrong here, because I paid more to be here for a few hours than on the flight to visit the island.” Their video, posted to TikTok, has garnered more than 723,000 views and 10,000 likes.

Commenters were quick to share their opinions on the matter – with some insisting they wouldn’t be visiting due to the cost. One wrote: “Exaggerated prices everywhere, traveling now is a luxury.”

Another said: “Thanks now I know where NOT to go.” And a third added: “I had booked but left! Obscene! The sunbeds all without sun and to take a dip you have to step on 100 people!”

Others thought the couple were silly for going to a luxury beachclub in the first place though – as these are notoriously expensive. One comment read: “For those who complain, it is not compulsory to spend that money for a sunbed and umbrella, I have been to the same beach, right side with a towel on the sand.”
