Conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar gets bail in AIADMK symbol case | Indian News
NEW DELHI: A Delhi Court on Friday granted bail to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar in a bribery case related to the AIADMK symbol case.
Special Judge Vishal Gogne granted the relief to Sukesh on a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh, reported news agency PTI.
Chandrashekhar was arrested by Delhi Police for allegedly taking money from AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran to bribe Election Commission officials to secure the party’s “two leaves” symbol for the faction led by VK Sasikala. Sukesh, however, will not be released from prison as he is accused in multiple cases.
Last month, the Bombay High Court granted him bail in a 2015 cheating case.
A single bench of Justice Manish Pitale, in its July order, noted that Sukesh has been incarcerated in the present cheating case for more than seven years and the trial is yet to commence.

Chandrasekhar was arrested in the case in May 2015 under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act for allegedly floating a bogus firm called ‘Lion Oak Indian’ and launching various investment schemes that promised 20 per cent monthly returns apart from rewards like Tata Nano car, gold coins etc.
Chandrasekhar, who is accused of amassing Rs 19 crore through this ponzi scheme, in his plea said the maximum sentence in case of conviction was seven years, time that he had already spent in jail awaiting trial.
