Concert-size stage in Milwaukee’s Veterans Park is being deconstructed

The concert-sized stage that was being erected on the southern end of Milwaukee’s Veterans Park on Thursday appeared to be deconstructed Friday before ever being used.

A woman who spoke with a Journal Sentinel reporter at the site Friday afternoon declined to explain what was happening. She called the area an active construction site.

Multiple semis could be seen loaded with what looked to be large pieces of metal, being driven away from the site.

According to a previous Journal Sentinel report, the setup began early Thursday.

An electrical permit filed with the city for Veterans Park lists “Kamala Harris rally” as the event description. Meanwhile, a noise variance allowed for McKinley Marina north of Veterans Park references “Harris for President” as the “responsible party” and a concert as the event’s purpose. The noise variance permit lists a date range from Wednesday through Monday.

It was since announced that Harris’ Friday rally would be held at the Wisconsin State Fair Exposition Center. It’s slated to feature performances from GloRilla, Flo Milli, MC Lyte, The Isley Brothers and DJ GEMINI GILLY and guest speaker Cardi B.

Former President Donald Trump will be holding a competing rally Friday evening just six miles away at Fiserv Forum as both candidates make a final push in battleground states ahead of Tuesday’s election.
