An ‘avoidable tragedy’: Rally to be held to honor Millbury fire victim

Maryann Audette, who died in a brush fire in Millbury, always tried to help those who were unhoused and bring a smile to their faces, Samantha Olney told MassLive.

Olney, the founder of Worcester harm-reduction group Homeless Addicts Leadership Organization (HALO), said she knew Audette well. Olney, who is herself unmarried along with her boyfriend, said Audette taught her tricks on surviving during winter months. She said Audette would always make her and others feel special on birthdays, help feed people and share advice with others facing homelessness.
