Former Nashville high school coach charged with statutory rape

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A former Nashville high school coach has been arrested and charged, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Police said 32-year-old Tyler Forte surrendered to officers on Wednesday evening after an arrest warrant charging him with aggravated statutory rape was issued.

Forte is accused of having multiple sexual encounters with a 17-year-old Donelson Christian Academy student four years ago, where he formerly coached. The arrest affidavit states the two would meet at various locations in the county to have sexual relations, despite their 11-year age gap.

Police began investigating in September when the now-adult victim came forward. Then on November 7, the now-adult victim conducted a “controlled phone call” with Forte at MNPD headquarters, according to the arrest affidavit. During the call, she confronted Forte about what happened between them, and that she was 17 years old at the time, the affidavit states.

Forte acknowledged the encounters during the call and apologized to the woman on the phone, and through text messages afterwards, according to the affidavit.

Forte was arrested Wednesday evening and booked on aggravated statutory rape charges. I posted bond early Thursday morning. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 10, 2025.
