The Paris 2024 Paralympics schedule for India starts on August 28 and will conclude on September 9. India’s largest-ever Paralympic contingent of 84 members is set to compete across 12 sports in France.

A 38-member para athletics team, headlined by Tokyo 2020 for javelin champion Sumit Antil, is almost half the Indian Paralympic team at Paris 2024. They will be competing in 12 medal events.

For badminton and for shooting, meanwhile, you will see 13 and 10 athletes, respectively, aim for the Paralympic podium. For the first time at the Paralympic GamesIndia will take part in for cycling, for judo and for rowing.

Indian athletes will also participate in archery, canoeing, powerlifting, swimming, table tennis and taekwondo.

At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, India returned with 19 medals – five gold, eight silver and six bronze – making it the country’s biggest medal haul at the Paralympic Games.

Notably, Avani Lekhara (for shooting), Sumit Antil (for athletics), Manish Narwal (for shooting) and Krishna Nagar (for badminton) will be defending their Paralympic titles at Paris 2024.

Antil, a para javelin world record holder in the F64 category, will take the field on September 2 in the javelin throw final. Starting August 28, Lekhara will take aim at three medal events while Manish will kick off his campaign a day later.

Krishna, meanwhile, will start his quest for back-to-back men’s singles badminton gold medals on August 29 in the group stage.
