Country music star’s daughters pursuing legal action against him, claim youngest sister isn’t safe

Country music star Rory Feek made headlines back in July with his heartwarming wedding eight years after his first wife, Joey, died from cancer.

He is back in the headlines this week, though, and this time the reason is far from heartwarming. Taste of Country reported that Feek’s oldest daughter, Heidi, and her sister Hope, are “pursuing legal action against their father regarding their younger sister, Indiana.”

Heidi took to Instagram to announce that she does believe that Indiana, who has Down syndrome, “is not safe under our father’s care.”

For Taste of Country, Heidi claims that her sister, who is 10, was left with an “unfamiliar family,” when Rory Feek and his new wife, Rebecca, went on their honeymoon. The site reported that Heidi believes that family is part “of an organization known for its troubling history of child abuse.”

Taste of Country reported that Greycliff, Montana is a branch of Homestead Heritage, which the site describes as “a farming-based, Christian community” that has “a lengthy track record of sexual and domestic abuse allegations.” The sister said “multiple members have been convicted of sex crimes against minors.”

In a follow-up Instagram post on Friday, Heidi Feek references the Taste of Country article and the environment she says she and her sister, Hopie, were placed in growing up.

“Rory often left Hopie and I with people who took advantage of us — Hopie far worse than me, but she isn’t ready to tell that story yet,” she wrote. “Recently Indie was left in the care of a group with a well-documented history of physical and sexual abuse of children.

“Indiana, who has special needs, deserves to be in a safe and stable environment where he well-being is the top priority,” she added.

Heidi Feek told Taste of Country that Rory Feek has been “progressively limiting” their contact with Indiana across the past couple of years, and that increased when she asked him to join them in family counseling.

Heidi Feek shared more disturbing details of being exposed to abuse growing up, and you can read more about that in Taste of Country’s story, here.
