Bar Refaeli Is Reportedly Being Investigated Over Tax Evasion In Israel

Bar Refaeli has reportedly been arrested by Israeli authorities for lying about his residency and evading millions of dollars worth of taxes on income earned abroad as well as luxury items.

The Jerusalem Post reports that the 30-year-old Israeli supermodel, who recently married billionaire Adi Ezra, was detained and questioned for several hours before being released on bail.

Bar’s mother, Zipora, was also questioned over the case which reports state, authorities have been investigating for months.

Reports state that the model, who previously dated Leonardo DiCaprio, claimed to an accountant that she lived outside of the country, and instead lived in an apartment rented out in her brother’s name, according to the Tax Authority.

Bar, believed to be worth $US20 million, is also accused of failing to report a number of luxury items – or “celebrity perks” amounting to more than $257,000 including apartments and cars.

According to The Guardian, the model told police she considers herself to be an expatriate, which she has done for a number of years.

“This is a taxation issue that raises the discussion of who is considered a resident of Israel,” her lawyer, Giora Aderet, said in a statement.
