Mysuru Chalo: After clashes erupt, BJP to keep Preetham Gowda out | Bengaluru News

MANDYA: A day after clashes erupted between BJP and JD(S) workers over the presence of BJP state general secretary Preetham J Gowda at the padayatrathe saffron party on Thursday decided to keep the former MLA away from the march.
Sources say JD(S) functionaries warned that Preetham’s involvement could jeopardize the yatra, prompting BJP to respond. Both BJP and JD(S) members confirmed that Wednesday’s row was discussed during a padayatra coordination committee meeting, resulting in the decision to keep Gowda out. Gowda has also been instructed not to attend the convention at Maharaja’s College grounds in Mysuru on Saturday to mark the culmination of the padayatra.
Nikhil KumaraswamyJD(S) state youth wing president, said a report on the incident was sent to BJP’s central brass. “We will see what action BJP takes against mischievous elements which tried to disturb the padayatra,” he said. He stressed the need for calm, saying, “Our party workers must be patient.” He said Union minister and JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy sent a clear message “not to react even if mischievous elements hurt you”.
In a separate development, BJP state president BY Vijayendra challenged chief minister Siddaramaiah to disclose details of beneficiaries of the Muda and Karnataka State Maharshi Valmiki ST Development Corporation scams. “Con gress came to the helm by giving false promises. Now they are involved in rampant corruption,” he said. BJP MLC N Ra vikumar said some 1.5 lakh people are expected to participate in Saturday’s valedictory rally in Mysuru.
