Felcra chairman denies leaves factory to non-Bumi company

Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said the allegation is an attempt to tarnish his reputation as Felcra chairman and BN’s operations director for the Nenggiri by-election.

GUA MUSANG: Felcra Bhd chairman Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub has refuted an allegation that he sold a Felcra factory to a non-Bumiputera company, declaring his readiness to be investigated over the matter.

I have also challenged those making the allegation to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

“I swear before Almighty God that not a single factory, nor even a screw from a factory, has been sold to any party,” he said at a program attended by Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, South Kelantan Development Authority settlers and Kampung Renok Baru residents here today.

The allegation was reportedly made by Bersatu information bureau committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, widely known as Chegubard, which he reiterated during the Nenggiri by-election campaign in Sungai Asap yesterday.

Badrul claimed that a Felcra-owned factory allegedly located on state land was being transferred to a non-Bumiputera company.

Speaking to reporters later, Jazlan, who is also the Kelantan BN chairman, said he had filed a police report on the allegation on Wednesday, and had instructed his lawyer to initiate legal action against the individual responsible for the defamation.

“This (sale of assets) never happened. (The documents) never landed on my desk, and I have no knowledge of this matter,” he said.

He also said the allegation was an attempt to tarnish his reputation as Felcra chairman and BN’s operations director for the Nenggiri by-election.

“If the allegation is proven true, I will resign as Felcra chairman, or the prime minister or deputy prime minister can dismiss me from my position,” he said.

The Nenggiri by-election on Aug 17 will see a straight fight between BN candidate Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani and Perikatan Nasional’s Rizwadi Ismail, who recently joined Bersatu from PAS.

It was called after Kelantan assembly speaker Amar Nik Abdullah declared the seat vacant on June 19 after his assemblyman, Azizi Abu Naim, had his membership in Bersatu terminated on June 13.
