A woman was found dead at Chicago O’Hare International Airport early Thursday morning after reports of a person trapped in machinery, officials said.

Shortly before 2:30 am, the woman was discovered “unresponsive and was pronounced on scene” in the 0-100 block of West Terminal Street, police said in a short statement.

The area is near Terminal 5, which serves international carriers.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the woman, police said.

Detectives are conducting a death investigation, pending autopsy results, police said.

NBC Chicago reported the Chicago Fire Department responded to reports of a person trapped in machinery at Terminal 5.

Neither the fire department nor anyone with the airport was immediately reached by NBC News for comment on Thursday afternoon.
