This Morning sparks complaints as ITV show airs ‘unforgettable’ Alison Hammond clip

This Morning has faced a wave of criticism after broadcasting a throwback clip of Alison Hammond’s unforgettable interview with Hollywood A-listers.

In 2017, the beloved presenter sat down with Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, creating a viral sensation as she had the stars laughing uproariously with her unique interviewing approach while discussing Blade Runner 2049.

On Monday’s (August 5) show, presenters Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle featured Alison’s iconic interview in a segment titled Alison’s legendary look back, which did not sit well with some ITV viewers.

Disgruntled fans took to social media to express their discontent, with one viewer sarcastically tweeting: “Let’s look back on something that came out seven years ago!” Another viewer lamented: “Another repeat VT filler from years ago with Hammond.”

While a third chimed in: “It’s ‘unforgettable’ because you lot keep repeating it.” One commenter remarked on the apparent lack of fresh content: “Must be a slow news week. Reshowing an old interview and there’s not much else on the running order.”

This sentiment was echoed by another who noted: “I see they’re short on content again on #ThisMorning.”

Alison herself has previously confessed that she feared for her job following the whiskey-fueled interview with Harrison and Ryan, which saw them all sharing laughs more than they discussed the acclaimed sci-fi movie.

Reflecting on the humorous encounter more than six years later, the presenter expressed her fears that she would be fired because of it. “I thought, ‘I’m going to get sacked’. I just laughed the whole way through,” Alison previously confessed to The Mirror.

“At the end, Harrison came up to me and said, ‘Alison, you’ve made my day today.'” Despite the unforgettable meeting, Alison admitted that when she met the Indiana Jones actor again shortly after, he struggled to recognize her.

She continued: “Then, a few days later, we did a Zoom interview and he didn’t know who I was… didn’t have a clue.” The duo reunited once more on This Morning in December 2022, when Harrison was promoting his Paramount+ series, 1923.

Alison was given the only UK TV interview with the Star Wars actor at the time and it’s reported that he specifically requested the daytime host to conduct the interview.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
