Sara Davies breaks silence on Strictly Come Dancing’s ‘toxic’ scandal

Sara Davies has shared her thoughts on her time on Strictly Come Dancing amidst the show’s ongoing controversies. The 40-year-old businesswoman, who participated in the BBC dance competition in 2021 with ella’s professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec, consistently wowed both judges and viewers until her departure in week eight. As allegations of a toxic work environment surrounding Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima’s behavior surface, Sara recalls her experience with Aljaz as quite different.

In an exclusive interview with the Mirror Sara said: “I really enjoyed working on Strictly because it was a dance competition. We’ve got to learn the skill. Got to learn how to dance, and that’s where my passion lies.” However, she ruled out participating in shows like Dancing On Ice, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Big Brother

She added: “You’ll never get me in a pair of ice skates – that looks dangerous, and I’m terrified of snakes so that rules out that show as well. I love doing TV, but I love presenting TV. I wouldn’t I don’t say I’m a big reality TV fan. TV isn’t my first job. I earn my living through running businesses and being involved in business. ‘I’m in the privileged position where I just work on the TV that I want to work on. I just do the things that I want to do and it’s a lovely place to be.’

Sara has been making waves on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den since becoming the youngest woman to join as an investor in 2019. Looking back at her time on the show she said: “So much of my investment decisions, in the den are based on feeling It’s like interviewing someone for a job. You’re really trying to understand their values, what they’re like as people, what’s important to them, what drives them, what gets them out of bed in the morning. for value alignment. I’m always looking for people who are aligned with me on their values, and then I know that’s going to work.”

She added: “I’ve gotten excited about the businesses that I’m working with. There’s really nothing that I live to regret,” While some of her fellow Dragons might display “gloat” over thriving ventures they backed, Sara sees beyond competition . On a personal level, she cherishes a lifelong friendship with her mentor and fellow Dragon, Deborah Meaden.

“Getting to sit alongside her in the den has been such a privilege,” she commented. “I would say we’ve become closer and closer over the years. It feels fabulous having a lasting friendship outside of work, she’s someone who I text quite often. We’ll keep in touch when we’re not filming and if I’ m ever in London and we’ve got time, we can always meet up for a coffee or a lunch.”

Sara, the entrepreneur behind Crafter’s Companion, started her business from her university bedroom in 2005 and has since built a crafting empire. “I’ve always been taught in business, the best place to be is always looking forward and looking at what’s next and what’s on the horizon and chasing your dreams,” Sara, who has just landed a new role with Avon, explained. “Entrepreneurs don’t, on the whole, take a step back and look back and celebrate their achievements. Maybe I should do that a little bit more, it would be nice.” For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter. To read Sara’s full interview with The Mirror, click here.
