Liam Gallagher ‘forced the Who and the Beatles’ on his son growing up

Liam Gallagher “forced” his son to listen to The Who and The Beatles while he was growing up, the young musician said.

Gene Gallagher, 23, who fronts his own band Villanelle, said that he and his siblings were not brought up listening to pop and instead were given an education in the 1960s bands favored by the Oasis singer.

“None of us grew up with pop. He didn’t want us to listen to Justin Bieber or One Direction, none of that malarkey,” The Sunday Times told. “He forced the Who and the Beatles on us.”

Gene also revealed that his mother named him after Gene Simmons from Kiss, the 1970s New York rock group. His brother, Lennon, is named after his father’s favorite member of The Beatles.

Villanelle toured as the support act for Liam’s Definitely Maybe 30th anniversary tour.

Two years ago Gene, along with Sonny Starkey, Ringo Starr’s grandson, were accused of getting into a late-night brawl with staff at a Tesco Express in Hampstead, north London.

The charges were dropped and the pair, who had pleaded not guilty, were given a bound over order, meaning they promised to “keep the peace and be of good behavior” for 12 months or pay £500.

Gene said: “If someone has that much time on their hands, I’m pretty sure there’s some CCTV footage out there for the doom-scrollers.”

He also denied rumors that Oasis was reuniting for the 30th anniversary of the Definitely Maybe album, which went platinum with more than 2.4 million sales.

When asked if he speaks to his cousin Anaïs Gallagher about their parents potentially getting the band back together, Gene said: “No, we have jokes about it but we don’t go at it. She knows what her dad’s like and I know what my dad’s like. “Hey, we’re a big happy family everyone.”

He added: “It’s nothing to do with us.”

Gene said, however, he gets “the feeling” his father would like to see an Oasis reunion, adding: “I mean, will they? I don’t know. “I would love it but it’s so beyond my control.”

Earlier this week, Noel Gallagher stopped a live show of his band High Flying Birds to address the rumored reunion after a fan shouted out a question during a gig at Halifax Piece Hall.

He said: “What is happening with Liam next year? I don’t know. You tell me.

“Why? Is something going on? Is there? Liam is touring? He’s touring. Oh right. Well, he should be very thankful for my genius,” he reportedly said.
