Weston Cage trades barbs with mother after trial, pleads not guilty to assault case

Weston Cage and his mother, Cristina FultonThey are still at odds… trading barbs through the media as their felony assault case moves forward, with an official statement on the books.

Nicolas Cage‘s son pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a charge of assault with a deadly weapon stemming from his alleged beating of his own mother, a shocking allegation that surfaced in May … when TMZ first broke the story.

We caught up with Weston leaving a downtown Los Angeles courtroom after his not guilty plea, and our photographer asked him about what Christina had told us on the way to court… namely, that she hopes Weston gets the help she thinks he needs.

Weston immediately responded: “She needs help,” but did not elaborate.

As for her mother, Christina was excited as she walked into the building…and in no mood to talk about their fractured relationship, except to say that Weston should get help.

It’s clear that Christina has healed from the wounds she claims to have suffered at the hands of her son.

Remember … Weston was arrested earlier this month after his mother alleged that he “brutally assaulted” her in April during what she characterized as a “manic rage,” but Weston is obviously ready to fight this claim… something his attorney made abundantly clear today.

After the incident, photos appeared that appeared to show Christina with Horrible bruises covering one side of his face.
